Strollers in November

Ops!! I did it again.. I stopped blogging for over a month! Thankfully it’s November the month of Thanksgiving, the month when everyone tends to write about the things they are thankful for every day. Even though I realize that it is nearly halfway through the month I think that by jumping onto the band wagon and attempting to do this I will hopefully get myself back on “blogging track”.

Although Strollers are definitely not #1 on my thankful list they are what is on my mind today and I will use some recent pictures to 1. Help catch up form the last time I blogged. 2. Show cute pictures of Benson 3. Explain why I am so thankful for a new and better stroller for my Hawaiian lifestyle.  Enjoy! And HAPPY NOVEMBER!

When I was pregnant and Ben and I didn’t know that we were going to be moving to Hawaii in just a few months so we registered for this car seat combo stroller. However, once we moved we realized how large and cumbersome this stroller was when riding the bus and especially when I tried to go out on my own while Ben was gone at school and work.

So we learned to utilize another great gift our "Baby Bjorn" baby carrier. For a while I thought it was SUPER fantatsic because I was mobile again and able to get outof the apartment during the day. THe Baby Bjorn also worked wonderes because Benson always seemed such a happy boy who never ever complained while he was in it.

Sadly Benson got heavier and my back began to hurt a lot while carrying him around all day. After a while Benson also decided that he hated to face in toward me and that he would much rather face out and see the world. Of course he also discovered that he loved to chew on the baby carrier all day long, which resulted in this little rash on his chin last week.

Doesn't he still look so little in this stroller?

So we decided it was time to stop using the Bjorn and went back to trying our stroller and well... it worked, but it seemed like Benson was still too tiny for it even at 5/ 12 months old.  And  I was still unable to fold it up and carry both it and Benson onto the bus all by myself, so I decided to look into umbrella strollers that would fold up a lot more compactly. After hours of research and reading a lot of reviews I decided I wanted to get“The First Years –Ignite Stroller."
This stroller is not as luxurious as our other one, but it met all the criteria I was looking for and was a in my budget at $55 +tax.  So I ordered it from Wal-Mart for a home delivery which unfortunatley added an extra $23 in tax for shipping costs and it would take approximately 11 days to arrive at my doorstep, but I was still super excited.
The following day I was still reading a few more reviews and found that I could order the same stroller and not be charged the shipping fee through Amazon.com  and it would arrive in 3-4 days  not 11, so I ordered it again and decided that I would return the Wal-Mart one and get some of my money back.
So today was the scheduled day for the Amazon.com delivery. Just to make sure we didn't miss it Benson and I stayed at home ALL day long waiting for it's much anticipated arrival. Finally at 5:30 pm as we finished dinner we heard the  deliverytruck pull up and we got our stroller and once we opened it up  this is what it looked like!

I was so happy with it that as soon as Benson woke up from his nap we plopped him into the stroller for a test drive.
We walked down to a park close to our apartment and we were thrilled with the way in performed.
Oddly enough within twenty minutes of leaving our apartment there were suddenly dark clouds over us and out of the blue rain began to pour down on all three of us (which never happens in Honolulu.)  Thankfully I brought everything along to test out how the new stroller would hold up so I had an umbrella and a warm blanket for Benson on hand.  I felt so prepared J

Benson became an instant burrito!

About an hour after we got home from our rainy walk, we got a knock at our door and found a UPS man delivering ….. ANOTHER stroller LOL.  We ran over to the first box in confusion and to our surprise found that we had actually received the Wal-Mart order earlier that day before the Amazon order. I was baffled, surprised and pleased.  Thankfully we were able to just gp ahead and switch the merchandise from one box to another and we can still return an unopened stroller to Wal-Mart for a full refund. J
So there you have it that is my stroller experience. I am thankful for both of my strollers, but one is simply more fit for our lifestyle here in Hawaii and I think out new Ignite will work out a lot better for Benson and I. I am thankful that my new stroller is exactly what I was looking for and that even though I didn’t read the packaging when I received my first order I am still able to get a refund.
Happy November!
