2 Months in Hawaii Update!

So we’re near the end of our second month here in Hawaii and things are calming down and settling into a nice routine for us.
Ben has been going to school and just started a new job at a Japanese tourism company where he makes reservations and stuff. He just finished his training and seems to enjoy the work environment a lot because it’s an office that is almost completely Japanese and he is able to practice and hear the language every time he works and it’s pretty close to both school and home.
I’ve been spending most of my time at home taking care of little Benson, which is a full time job in itself. Thankfully my good friend Melissa and I get out a few times a week to go do grocery shopping and a few other fun things.
We’ve been really lucky and become friends with a lot of younger families in the ward.  Usually we will get together with a few people during the weekend to play games and chow down some goodies.
Benson is getting big! At least I feel as if he’s growing so fast.  Last Thursday we had an appointment where Benson got weighed and measured and to our surprise he weighed only 13 pounds 8 ounces. We were certain we was 14 or 15 pounds at least! So those measurements put him in the 40% for weight and 36% for height which also really surprised us. But he’s still growing and doing really good even if he’s not quite as big as we thought! J
Recently we’ve been putting him in his crib at night before he’s fully asleep and let him cry it out, which has taken about 15-20 minutes on average.  I think he’s finally getting to the point where he can fall asleep on his own without being nestled up in my arms. For example, one morning last week Ben and I were sitting on our bed playing with him and talking back and forth when all of the sudden  we looked down  and he was putting himself to sleep! It was amazing because he’s never done that before I was such a proud mommy!
Benson is now able to roll over both from his tummy to back and from his back to his stomach. He grabs for things and loves to put them in his mouth. Benson also loves to try to scoot off of everything to maneuver himself around, but he’s still d gets stuck in awkward positions most of the time.  He’s babbling and smiling a lot more than he used to, but he still won’t really smile for anyone other than Ben and me. It’s so amazing to be able to watch him grow and see all the little advances and discoveries he’s making. He’ll grow up in no time! but for now he’s still my little sweetie who loves to snuggle and be held (a total momma’s boy.)
A cute little smile to start off  with
He's also developing a bald spot

  2. I know I'm late in seeing this post...but I love it! I'm glad you guys have gotten into a groove. I think it's AWESOME that Ben gets to be surrounded by Japanese all the time! And your baby is adorable. That's all. :)
