Mouse update

Update on: The Mouse Rat of the LeSueur House
A few weeks ago I posted about our mouse problem, which is actually a rat problem. Turns out there is an infestation in the building and we believe they are roof rats living in the crawl space above our apartment.
So far my property manager had only gotten rodent complaints from one other tenant in the building, which is great because they can’t just write me off like I am crazy and like it doesn’t exist. I am also glad that it is a bottom floor unit on the opposite side of the building because that means they are getting everywhere and the owner should realize that it’s a BIG problem.
As of yesterday I spoke to my property manager and a pest control company about the issues we have been having, and they are trying to work up a quote for the owner so we can get a plan in motion. I am supposed to be hearing form another company very soon so they can get another quote and make the final decision. My Property manager then told me it could still be a bit before they do anything because they still have to give all the tenants notice about the treatment and set a date.  Even though that’s not exactly what I wanted to hear I am grateful to know that something is going to be done and it’s not going to be at our expense! That in its self is a huge blessing which helps me be a little more patient.
In the meantime our house still isn’t what I would call “safe” the rats still come out. While we were out of town last week we booby trapped our tiny kitchen thinking we would catch something while we were gone. However when we got back we found that the traps had failed to catch anything more than a pile of roaches and only one snap trap had gone off  but nothing was in it. Somehow the rat or rats had evaded our traps and still somehow managed to get out and about throughout our apartment peeing and pooping all over our countertops. We have since disinfected everything 4 or 5 times and slept with the kitchen light on all night to help deter the rats from coming out while we sleep.
I am sure anyone who reads this blog will agree that Hawaii has had its fair share of trials for us since we moved here.  I won’t pretend to love it and make it sound as if I am not bothered, but I have decided that I just need to try to roll with the punches and  see any bit of positive that I can. I am sure that being  hopeful and optimistic will only improve my state of mind so that I can enjoy the other blessings I am given rather than concentrate on the negative things I encounter. I hope that we can all do that. It’s not always easy, but it is certainly better than the alternative.
Thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers on our behalf.
