When we left Arizona our intent was to buy a car once we
arrived. However within a few short days things changed and we decided that it
would be better for us to save as much money as possible and one way we could
do that is by using public
transportation, so we decided to get ourselves annual bus passes. Of course this
decision came with several pros and cons.
Things we are enjoying
are things like the fact that we won’t have to pay for a car, car insurance, or
gas which are all SUPER expensive here. We also don’t have to drive in
Honolulu’s awful traffic and we can both help each other out when Benson gets
fussy. We have also found that Benson is a great conversation starter and we
have had several fun and interesting conversations with people while riding
from place to place.
Some of the cons
include obvious things like having to wait for the bus (except Honolulu’s bus system
is a pretty darn good one so it hasn’t been too bad… so far) It has also been
an adventure trying to get everything we need for our new unfurnished apartment
back to our place when we have a billion things to carry like our baby carrier,
stroller, large diaper bag, and mini cart filled with food and misc. other
things. However, we have decided that the money we are saving is worth the
small inconveniences and so hopefully we continue to like our decision and
things go well for us. J
